Godovytsya.  Church of All Saints

Just south of Lviv, there is a rather small village of Godovytsya. It is located just mere 2km away from the road that connects Lviv and Pustomyty, and has a monument that is slowly decaying - the Church of All Saints located on the shore of a picturesque pond. It is one the of the brilliant creations of the famous Lviv architectBernard Meretin. Consecrated in 1774 the Church was a model for the following works of the architect such as in Buchach, Horodenka, Monastyrysk, Busk, Lopatyn, Berezdivtsi, Lviv… 

Another famous sculptor Johann Georg Pinzel had created a sculpture for the altar part of the temple, which is stored today in the Olesko Castle. Six decorated vases that crown the façade of the building are probably all that are left in Godovitsya from the original creation of a brilliant master.

Годовиця. Костел Всіх Святих

Звідси всього декілька кілометрів до південної межі Львова. В невеликому селі Годовиця, що в пару кілометрах від дороги, що веде від Львова у бік Пустомитів, на березі мальовничого ставу повільно помирає одне з геніальних творінь відомого львівського архітектора, швейцарця за походженням, Бернарда Меретина. Костел Всіх Святих в Годовиці, освячений у 1774 році був зразком для наступних творів Меретина. Це пізніше за його взірцем архітектор збудував подібні споруди в Бучачі, Городенці, Монастириськах, Буську, Лопатині, Берездівцях, Львові…

В парі з архітектором Меретином над декором костелу працював не менш відомий скульптор Йоган Георг Пінзель. Він виконав скульптуру у вівтарній частині храму, яка сьогодні зберігається в Олеському замку. Шість декорованих ваз, які увінчують фасад будівлі – це, напевне, все, що залишилося в Годовиці від творінь геніального майстра.
